Painting Styles of the 20th Century Class 1 of 4

Today we started a new series of art classes at the Butler titled “Painting Styles of the 20th Century”. The kids talked about modernism, Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso and cubism at this first class. Then they cut shapes out of paper. The shapes had a musical theme and they were to make some type of collage which incorporated a guitar.

S9 cut her guitar shape in half vertically and used it on either side of her collage.

O7 modeled her piece with the info Mrs. George had put on the board for reference:

S9 also left some grafitti on the chalkboard after class:

Back at home, the kids made another piece for fun. They enjoy the cut and piece process a lot and are coming up with some really interesting shapes.
