Today was day 1 of 4 archery camp classes at On Target Outfitters.
O7 was a little bit nervous at the beginning and asked if I would stay for a while. I got some pictures of the targets and range while the camp director explained the rules and safety procedures. They have a very well organized range, with half the kids shooting at one time (12 of 24) and two shooters per target. A counselor is stationed at each target, and each round you get to shoot 6 arrows.
A few kids had their own bows but they encouraged everyone to use the camp’s equipment instead. That way, everyone was pretty much shooting with the same power, which was how the range was designed.
Here is S9 demonstrating one of the safety points.
After about an hour and when O7 seemed comfortable, I left for a bit. When I picked the kids up at noon, they were very excited about returning the next day. Each one had shot pretty well and won a prize.
