Flexible “Glass” Sculptures Class 3 plus Zoo School and Gymnastics

Today we went to our art class at the Butler.  The kids are continuing to work on their Dale Chihuly-inspired pieces.  I remembered to snap a shot of one of the flexible sculptures.

This was made using Pebeo Arti-stik paints and a thin-gauge wire. Once dry, the sculptures can be shaped. We stood ours up in groupings held by a clay base. This is very similar to Chihuly’s technique, where he inserts each glass tube or rod into a base to make a larger piece.

Immediately after art class, we hightailed it to Akron Zoo for this month’s Zoo School program. The theme was “Crepuscular!”

We stopped at OGI on our way home for the girls’ gymnastics classes.
