Treasured Stories of Eric Carle

Today was the last of the Pittsburgh International Children’s Theatre series productions. We were back downtown Pittsburgh at the Byham, this time for the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s production called Treasured Stories of Eric Carle.

This was a two-person puppet show, and it was very well done. They used puppets painted in vivid fluorescent paint and blacklights to make the puppets look exactly like Carle’s vibrant art. The entire audience ooohed and cheered when the Very Hungry Caterpillar made his appearance. They also told the story of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and Papa Get the Moon For Me.

We had not read any of these books, interestingly enough. The girls are going to look for them next time we are at the library, even though they are way past them in reading level.
