Music at Noon

We take our art classes at the Butler Art museum, and during the YSU academic year there are free concerts in the museum’s atrium.  They are typically students in the Dana School of Music.  We stopped in after class this past Wednesday and heard a saxophone recital.  It included six students and the professor performing various selections.

The girls sat patiently enough, but S6 did not care for the music.  It was very contemporary and she thought it was too “loud” and “scratchy” (I think she was referring to some of the more atonal portions).

While I’m, of course, disappointed that she did not love it, I am glad she is developing enough of a sense of music to know what she does like.

(That would be Joan Jett, by the way.)
