Our current art class at the Butler ended today. It was called “Dot to Dot with Seurat” and was a four-week exploration of pointillism. Mary Pat George, the art instructor, demonstrated the technique with the kids and then gave them the opportunity to do some dots of their own. First they drew some dots with markers, then they expanded to paint and, finally, beads in clay. I thought this was the most interesting example of the technique I’d ever seen and would have never considered a sculpting technique in a pointillism class. Bravo, Mrs. George!
