I love it when the girls make a mental connection between concepts. There’s practically a tangible line from Point A to Point B when they take something they have learned and see how it works in a different context.

This morning, O4 came running into the kitchen, where I was getting ready to take us to art class at the Butler. We are learning about the Fauves, which means “wild beast” in French.

“Mama! Did you know about Beauty and the Beast?” She was so excited she was practically bouncing. “The Beast is a Fauve!”

Today they finished their landscapes. O4 painted a city with five buildings. S6 painted a snow scene.

I believe the instructor is having them paint a well-known character or symbol, but in a context you wouldn’t normally find them in. We will find out more next week.
